CARTA trains 60 Faculty and Administrators in annual workshop
CARTA has this week brought together and trained 60 Faculty and Administrators from eight African partner institutions at the College of Medicine, University of Malawi for the three-day workshop that runs from July 16-18, 2018.
The opening ceremony was graced by Malawi’s Secretary of Education, Justin Saidi and the University of Malawi Vice-Chancellor Prof John Kalenga Saka.
The Faculty and Administrators’ Staff (FAS) Workshop, in its eighth year, is a forum for the staff (including junior and senior staff, librarians, deans of postgraduate schools, finance officers, research managers, registrars, IT managers, public relations and communication officers) to discuss ways to strengthen the training of the doctoral fellows while at the same time reinforce the capacity of the institutions within the consortium.
To date, nearly 630 administrators have been trained in the annual FAS workshops.
Like last year, the university staff made commitments on how they plan to take the lessons from FAS by pledging to an action that would create an impact in their home institution and in their work.
APHRC/CARTA was represented by Joseph Gichuru, Evelyn Gitau, Peter Ngure, Florah Karimi, Hesbon Wao, Sheena Kayira, Mercy Ndwiga, Emmanuel Otukpa and Eunice Kilonzo were among the participants at the workshop.
