Call for PapersSexual and reproductive health of young people – Focus AfricaDeadline: February 6, 2019The International Journal of Public Health invites for peer review high-quality articles in the area of young people’s sexual and reproductive health (SRH) with a particular focus on health challenges of young people in Africa.The potential of young people is a catalyst to social and economic development, which makes investing in young people’s education and health a global priority. Over the past decade, young people’s sexual and reproductive health has become a prominent concern in the global political arena.With a focus on Africa, this call seeks original research articles and systematic reviews on any aspect of young people’s sexual and reproductive health. Of particular interest are intervention studies assessing the scale-up of promising health interventions, or innovative gender-transformative approaches. Deadline: November 30, 2018.   The School of Public Health, University of the Witwatersrand, under the direction of Dr Jude Igumbor, is seeking two postdoctoral fellows to head scientific writing of several completed and ongoing health system research projects with a focus on women, adolescents, children, and HIV/TB. The fellows will work closely with the Principal Investigator to produce manuscripts and grant applications and will have the opportunity to assume the first-author position on manuscripts. An advanced research or clinical degree is required for this position. Individuals may have a PhD in Public Health, Population Studies, Demography or related fields. Applicants must have a demonstrated track record of being primary author on peer-reviewed scientific publications and must have excellent scientific writing skills and data analysis abilities using Stata. Experience in HIV, TB, women, children and adolescents health research is required. This is a full-time position

The Consortium for Advanced Research Training in Africa (CARTA) is a south-south partnership with a south-north collaboration jointly led by the African Population and Health Research Center (APHRC) and the University of the Witwatersrand (Wits). The Consortium was established in 2008 with a mandate to build a vibrant African academy able to lead world-class multi-disciplinary research that impacts on population health in Africa.Applications are invited for the 2019 CARTA Senior Faculty Visiting Research Fellowships to African partner institutions. These fellowships are competitive and are open to senior academic staff members from African partner institutions who have contributed to CARTA as JAS and FAS facilitators, supervisors, focal persons, members of CARTA committees, curriculum reviewers, reviewers of CARTA fellowships and awards, members of the Partners’ Forum and the Board of Management.
