Mwiti Betty KarimiBetty is a Tutorial Fellow at the School of the Arts and Design, University of Nairobi, Kenya. She lectures the Undergraduate level students mainly in Advertising, Corporate Identity and Packaging Design. She also mentors the final year students and helps them transition from the academic environment into the job market, making their experience enjoyable yet practical.
She holds a Master of Arts in Design degree and a Bachelor of Arts in Design degree from the University of Nairobi, Kenya. She is currently pursuing her PhD studies at the same University through a scholarship awarded on merit by the Consortium for African Research Training in Africa (CARTA). Her research interest is in ‘Curbing Prevalence of Non Communicable Diseases in Kenya through Effective Advertising Campaign Strategies’. She believes that by application of her skills as a Visual Communicator, she has the potential to influence behavior change when it comes to healthy lifestyle choices for humanity.
Prior to joining the academic field, Betty previously worked as a Creative Art Director in advertising agencies, handling various projects for Corporates from client service to advertising campaigns. As such she is still actively practicing as a Graphic and Interior designer with focus on Corporate Branding.
Betty loves swimming, travelling and dancing.
