Area of Research: Detection of zoonotic Anaplasma and Ehrlichia species infecting cattle in Kenya
Shepelo Getrude is a Veterinary Surgeon registered by the Kenya Veterinary Board and Kenya Veterinary Association. She completed her Master’s degree in Veterinary Medicine from the University of Nairobi in 2015. She worked on Cryptosporidium, Giardia, and Eimeria infections in calves in smallholder dairy farms in Kenya. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Veterinary Medicine from the same university. She is currently a Tutorial Fellow at the Department of Clinical Studies, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, the University of Nairobi, where she undertakes research, clinical duties in the Large Animal Clinic and teaches undergraduate students. She is a One Health team member at the department and a team leader in the Veterinary Emergency Response Unit (VERU)- University of Nairobi Chapter. Her area of interest is tick-borne zoonosis. Her PhD research work is on the detection of zoonotic Anaplasma and Ehrlichia species infecting cattle in Kenya.
