Biography:

I have worked as a tutorial fellow at the University of Nairobi, department of Medical Microbiology since the year 2011 and my responsibilities mainly involve teaching both undergraduate and postgraduate students in bacteriology, research, supervision and mentorship. I have supervised several masters’ students projects covering antimicrobial resistance, methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus as a nosocomial pathogen and tuberculosis. I hold a Master of Science and Bachelor of Science degree in Medical Microbiology from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology. I am currently pursuing a PhD degree in Medical Microbiology at the University of Nairobi as a CARTA fellow (Cohort 4) and my research work is focused on “Molecular epidemiology of Closridium difficile among hospitalized patients presenting with diarrhoea”. I have a strong interest in the diagnosis of infectious diseases in relation to the various causative agents as well as monitoring of their antimicrobial resistance which still present a challenge in treatment of these infections.
