Chimwemwe is a Cohort 6 fellow, and lecture at Kamuzu College of Nursing (KCN), a constituent college of the University of Malawi. Her research interest is to investigate the utility of video-based health education for diabetes patients to improve their health literacy, self-management and well-being in the southern region of Malawi. She will be doing her PhD under University of Malawi at College of Medicine, School of Public Health. She feels quite honoured to be awarded the prestigious CARTA PhD fellowship. She found the first Joint Advanced Seminar (JAS 1) exciting and enlightening. JAS 1 offered her an opportunity to engage and interact with experts in various fields from around the world which broadened her mind and challenged her thinking.

Chimwemwe has a Post-graduate Diploma in Health Sciences education from Witwatersrand University, South Africa, Master of Science in Nursing from University of Cape Town, South Africa, University Certificate in Midwifery and Bachelor of Science in Nursing from University of Malawi.

Prior to joining the University of Malawi, she worked as a nursing officer in the Ministry of Health at Zomba Mental Hospital and Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital in Malawi. She believes that nurses have a great role to play in health promotion of all people by use of evidence based Information, Education and Communication (IEC) materials in patient care.
Married with two kids, she makes sure to spare some time to spend with her family despite her career demands.
