Folake graduated from the University of Ibadan, Nigeria, with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) in 2003 and had her residency training in Community Dentistry at the University College Hospital, Ibadan; She was certified as a Fellow after passing the final examinations of both the West African College of Surgeons and the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria in the specialty of Community Dentistry in April and May 2012 respectively. She also has a Master of Dental Science Degree from the University of Ibadan in 2007 with her dissertation based on traditional oral health care practices. She was appointed a Lecturer/Honorary Consultant in the Department of Periodontology and Community Dentistry of the University of Ibadan and University College Hospital in 2012. Since October 2015, she has been a Senior Lecturer in the Department, and her research focuses on school oral health promotion, oral health-related quality of life, epidemiology of oral diseases, and the oral health of underserved communities. She teaches, conducts research, provides oral health care service to the community, and trains dental students, medical students, community health care practitioners, and dentists at postgraduate and residency training levels.
