Judith is currently pursuing doctoral degree studies at the University of Witwatersrand, South Africa. She holds a Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery degree, as well as a Bachelor of Science in Human Biology degree from the University of Zambia. She also holds a Master’s degree in Public Health specializing in Epidemiology from the University of Cape Town and a Postgraduate Diploma in HIV Management from the College of Medicine South Africa. Judith works as a Medical Epidemiologist at the Centre for Tuberculosis of the National Institute of Communicable Diseases in Johannesburg, South Africa. She has a joint appointment with the University of Witwatersrand as a Senior Researcher. She is also a member of the South African National TB strategy Thinktank. She has previously worked as a TB/HIV Program Manager and Technical Specialist at the Wits Health Consortium, TB/HIV Technical Advisor at ICAP South Africa – Columbia University, Research Medical Officer at the Institute of Infectious Diseases and Molecular medicine at the University of Cape Town and previously in a similar position at the Desmond Tutu HIV Centre. Judith has also previously worked as a Consultant Researcher for Save The Children USA and Management Sciences for Health. Before undertaking postgraduate studies, she worked as a Resident Medical Officer at the University Teaching Hospital in Lusaka, Zambia. Judith’s area of work has mostly been in tuberculosis and HIV at clinical, programmatic, and research levels. She has presented findings from her research work at various fora and has published in peer-reviewed journals.
