Area of Research: Migration and settlement experiences of Nigerians in Guangzhou, China
Kudus pursued his PhD in the department of sociology, University of Ibadan, Ibadan, Nigeria. He holds a BA (Philosophy) and MSc (Sociology) degrees from the same university and attended certificate programs at Brown University, United States and University of Bergen, Norway in 2014 and 2015 respectively.
Prior to his selection as a Fellow of CARTA, Kudus held the prestigious Postgraduate School Scholarship of the University of Ibadan (2014-2016) and was selected a Laureate to the Small Grant for Thesis Writing CODESRIA, Dakar, Senegal (2015).
His on-going doctoral research focuses on the Nigerian trading community in Guangzhou, China, and aims to understand the nature of emerging community structures, migrant experiences, and challenges of social health in the host society. Kudus is interested in international migration within and from Africa, livelihoods, migrant social health, and social policy.
