Dr. Uwizeye is Lecturer at the department of Development Studies, school of Governance, University of Rwanda. He was promoted to that academic rank in February 2016 after graduation from PhD in 2015. He was first recruited as a Tutorial Assistant in 2007 and grew into the system until he got his PhD. Dr. Uwizeye holds a PhD in Demography and Population Studies from the University of Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. Currently, he is the Head of the Department of Development Studies, School of Governance, University of Rwanda. Dr Uwizeye is the winner of two competitive research awards: (i) The 2017-2018 Postdoctoral Research Grant award under the UR/Sweden to support a research project: “A cross-sectional study on population and health dynamics in Kigali’s informal settlements”; (ii) The 2017 Subgrant award from the African Population and Health Research Center (APHRC) to support the project on “Intra-university Collaboration for Advanced Research training at the University of Rwanda (ICARU)”. The subgrant award was used to create synergy among faculty in order to upgrade the teaching of the research methodology course at the University of Rwanda (UR). Dieudonne does research in the areas of population and development with a focus on population dynamics, health and education; resource distribution and health focusing on urban informal settlements. Also, He does research on research capacity strengthening and higher education leadership and scholarships. Dr Uwizeye has so far published his research findings in internationally recognized journals and co-authored scientific books. He also presented his findings at various international and regional research conferences. His teaching portfolio includes undergraduate and postgraduate courses at the department of Development Studies and the Department of Local Government Studies. Dr Uwizeye speaks and Write English, French and Swahili with full professional fluency, and uses Kinyarwanda as a native language.
