I am Esther Kikelomo Afolabi, a Lecturer and Community/Public Health specialist in the Department of Nursing Science, Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife, Osun State Nigeria. I teach undergraduate courses both at the Departmental and Faculty levels of the College of Health Sciences. My background training in Nursing Science affords me a sound understanding of the subject both in theory and practice. I obtained my B.Sc., M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in Nursing from Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife, Osun State, Nigeria in 2006, 2013 and 2018 respectively. Prior to joining Department of Nursing Science, I worked as a Nurse Instructor in a mission school of nursing for one year during my National Youth Service Corps (NYSC). I worked as a Volunteer Clinical Nurse for six months in the same school. I joined the services of Medical and Health Services of Obafemi Awolowo University as a Clinical Nursing Officer in 2010 where I worked for four years before transferring my services to the Department of Nursing Science of the same institution in 2014 upon completion of my Master’s degree Programme to join the academic workforce. My post Ph.D. aspiration is to become an erudite teacher, a good mentor, and a seasoned researcher. My research interests are in promoting the sexual and reproductive health of women with special focus on prevention of cervical cancer, and health system strengthening of preventive services delivery. Hence, I plan to be involved in networking and collaborative research projects that are geared towards proffering solution to prevailing sexual and reproductive health problems in our resource-constrained society.
