Bio:

Frederick Oporia is an Injury Epidemiologist working as a Research Associate in the Department of Disease Control and Environmental Health (DCEH), under the Trauma, Injuries, and Disability (TRIAD) unit at Makerere University School of Public Health (MakSPH). He holds a Master of Public Health (MPH) from Makerere University and a former Fellow of the Johns Hopkins Chronic TRIAD program. In DCEH, Frederick is actively involved in teaching and supervision of students’ research projects. Frederick’s area of research is unintentional injuries, with bias in Drowning prevention. He has coordinated several projects at the department, in partnership with the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Currently, he is the coordinator for the Drowning Prevention Project, where his PhD study is nested. Frederick has vast experience working in public and private Health Training Institutions and as a Public Health Practitioner. He also has publications in peer-reviewed journals and is a distinguished member of standards committees at the Uganda National Bureau of Standards (UNBS). Lastly, Frederick has a healthy dose of experience in presentations at several national and international conferences.
