Bio:

Shepelo Getrude is a Veterinary Surgeon registered by the Kenya Veterinary Board and Kenya Veterinary Association. She completed her Master’s degree in Veterinary Medicine from the University of Nairobi in 2015 where she worked on Cryptosporidium, Giardia, and Eimeria infections in calves in smallholder dairy farms, in Kenya. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Veterinary Medicine from the same university. Currently, she is a Tutorial Fellow at the Department of Clinical Studies, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, the University of Nairobi where she undertakes research, clinical duties in the Large Animal Clinic and teaches undergraduate students. She is a member of One Health team at the department and a team leader in the Veterinary Emergency Response Unit (VERU)- University of Nairobi Chapter. Her area of interest is in tick-borne zoonosis. Her PhD research work was on the detection of zoonotic Anaplasma and Ehrlichia species infecting cattle in Kenya
