Area of Research: Developing and pilot testing of a labour support intervention by nurses and midwives at public health facilities in Rwanda.
I am Marie Chantal UWIMANA a registered nurse- midwife and I am currently a Lecturer in the College of Medicine and Health Sciences at the University of Rwanda. I completed the midwifery education in Rwanda in 2000 and after I went to pursue my honor’s degree in Nursing and master’s Degree in Nursing Management from the University of Kwa Zulu Natal in 2011. I have completed my PHD degree in Nursing from the University of Witwatersrand in Republic of South Africa in December 2020. I have been teaching at the University of Rwanda in the School of Nursing and Midwifery since 2006 up to date. My previous professional experience includes clinical practice in maternity at the University Teaching hospital and in Health care centers. I have given oral presentations focusing on nursing and midwifery education and practice at regional and international conferences. My research interest focuses in maternal, newborn child and adolescent health. I believe that well trained nurses and midwives can play a key role in improving maternal, newborn, child and adolescent health
