Dr Sunday Adedini holds a PhD in Demography and Population Studies from the University of the Witwatersrand, South Africa. He has more than 14 years of teaching and research experience with interest broadly on sexual and reproductive health of women and young people, and family planning and urban development nexus, as well as issues of child health. In terms of the whole spectrum of research, he has experiences in conceptualizing research ideas, research design, fund raising (with 10 research grants), research implementation, practical field research experience (spanning quantitative and qualitative research, monitoring and evaluation), management of diverse research team, establishment and management of urban HDSS, data management and analysis, dissemination of research findings through stakeholders’ engagement, conference presentations and publications of more than 65 articles in accredited peer-reviewed journals. Dr Adedini has been involved in many research projects across sub-Saharan Africa. He is an Associate Professor of Demography and currently the Head of Department of Demography and Social Statistics, Federal University, Oye-Ekiti, Nigeria; and a Research Fellow with the Programme in Demography and Population Studies, University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg, South Africa. He was formerly a Senior Lecturer at the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Nigeria and Head Demographer and Programme Manager at Vaccines and Infectious Diseases Analytics Research Unit, Wits Health Consortium, South Africa. Dr Adedini is a recipient of several academic laurels and fellowships, including CARTA PhD Fellowship; Fogarty Foundation Postdoctoral Fellowship; BIARI Fellowship; Wits University Postgraduate Merit Award; Exceptional Research Outputs Award of Wits Faculty of Health Sciences; IUSSP Fellowship; amongst others.
