I am a medical doctor with post graduate training in Public Health from The University of Melbourne, Australia. I hold a Doctorate of Philosophy from Makerere University. I am lecturing at Makerere University School of Public Health (MakSPH). I have got over 18 years of experience in sexual, reproductive health and rights garnered through consultancies, training, academic research, designing, monitoring and evaluating public health programs. I have played various roles, while conducting research, spinning from Team leader, Co-investigator, Study and Research coordinator as well as Associate consultant. Prior to joining Makerere University, I established the first ever cohort of FSWs in Uganda while working with Medical Research Council, Uganda Virus Research Institute in 2007. I gathered rich experience while working with the cohort in conducting epidemiological and social research as well as offering care and treatment to marginalized populations. Other relevant assignments executed include; evaluating UNFPA 7th Country program that assessed the policy and implementation of programs for Most at Risk Population; conducting literature review on HIV transmission among populations at higher risk of HIV infection commissioned by International Organization for Migration; and evaluation of rationalization of HIV Care and Treatment Programs in Uganda that was funded by Centre for Disease Control. I have vast experience in management of district and lower facilities where I worked for seven years as a Deputy District Director of Health services. I also have experience in working with both local and international organization on various programs as either researcher or implementing partner. Such programs include estimation of abortion incidence in Uganda in partnership with Gutmatcher Institute, USA. I have authored different publications in peer reviewed medical journals and made numerous presentations at international symposia. I look forward to writing winning grants proposals and pursuing further research as principle investigator in areas focusing on strengthening health systems, sexual and reproductive health rights, disasters and emergencies as well as vulnerable and key populations.
