year of completion:

My Professional Career started about 13 years ago. I started my Masters degree programme (M.Sc) in the year 2004 at the Department of Demography & Social Statistics, Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile Ife, Nigeria. In the course of the programme I was appointed as a Graduate Assistant and I assumed duty on the 28th of March, 2006. In 2009 I registered for my Ph.D programme in the same department and graduated in 2015. I was awarded the Consortium for Advanced Research Training in Africa (CARTA) PhD fellowship in 2013 for the period 2013-2017. However, I completed my PhD in 2015 and proceeded to one year CARTA Post-doctoral fellowship, which lasted from January to December 2016. I have been promoted thrice since my assumption of duty as a Graduate Assistant in 2006; first to the rank of an Assistant Lecturer, then to Lecturer II and to the rank of Lecturer I about 3 years ago. I am awaiting my promotion to the rank of a Senior Lecturer by the end of this year. Since I started as an academic staff in 2006, I have taught a number of courses at the undergraduate level and as well supervised students’ long essays. I started to lecture at the graduate level about 2 years ago and have also started supervision of thesis at that level. Since I started my professional career, I have been involved in a number of research works, which has enabled me to have publications both in local and international journals. Apart from the workshops and seminars organized by CARTA (JAS 1-4) across the continent, I have attended a number of seminars, workshops and Conferences both locally and internationally. I have collaborations with other researchers locally and internationally as well. I have since settled back to my home institution after the completion of the 1 year postdoctoral fellowship to continue my career both as a researcher and a lecturer. I hope to win a number of grants in the very near future to further enhance my career and to prepare me for further promotions in the future. I have also started to mentor few of my junior colleagues and some of my graduate students. I hope to get to the peak of my career as a University Professor within the next 10 years.
