Associate Professor in the Department of Ophthalmology, College of Medicine University of Ibadan. Bolutife also works as a Consultant Ophthalmologist at the University College Hospital, Ibadan. He teaches undergraduate medical students during their clinical postings in Ophthalmology. He also teaches postgraduate students who have enrolled for Master of Science degree in Ophthalmology as well as resident doctors undergoing postgraduate fellowship training in Ophthalmology. He graduated as a medical doctor from the University of Ibadan in 1999 and subsequently completed his training as an ophthalmologist at the University College Hospital, Ibadan in 2007. Since then, he has been employed as a university lecturer in Ophthalmology and also works as a consultant ophthalmologist at a tertiary eye care delivery center where a fairly large number of patients are seen from a wide area of southwestern Nigeria. In 2010, he obtained a master of science degree in epidemiology and medical statistics. He also underwent a one-year clinical fellowship in pediatric ophthalmology and strabismus between January and December 2011 at the Red Cross War Memorial Children’s Hospital, Cape Town, South Africa. He recently completed a PhD in Epidemiology and is currently an Associate Professor of Ophthalmology at the University of Ibadan, Nigeria. During his career, Bolutife has developed a keen interest in clinical and community-based research in ophthalmology. Specifically, he has a passion for research that generates and disseminates knowledge necessary for evidence based medical practice. He is also interested in the effective translation of research findings into policies that impact positively on the society at large. His major long term career goals are to be to a renowned scholar who contributes immensely to the conduct of cutting-edge research that has a positive impact on the eye health of the community; and to be a distinguished expert who is instrumental in provision of evidence based ophthalmic care in Nigeria and Africa in general. His main career interests and areas of sub-specialization are: Pediatric ophthalmology and strabismus (childhood eye diseases); and Ophthalmic epidemiology and community ophthalmology.
