About
James works at the Department of Disease Control and Environmental Health, Makerere University as a Research Associate. His background is in Environmental Health Science with a PhD in Public Health (One Health antimicrobial resistance), a Master’s degree in Veterinary Preventive Medicine (field Epidemiology), and Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health Science all from Makerere University. This has positioned James to conduct research in Veterinary Preventive Medicine, Public Health, Infectious Diseases, and Epidemiology at the human-livestock-wildlife interface. James has participated in several community-based outreaches and interventions all over Uganda with special interests in the cattle corridors where we find a greater number of animals and good evidence for human-wildlife-livestock-environment interface. This presented a chance for James to conduct a series of research on zoonotic diseases not only in Uganda but also in South Sudan. He has done work with national (Universities, Uganda National Bureau of Standards, Local government, community-based projects, private sector); regional (University of Zambia, University of Bahr El Ghazal, South Sudan), and international (University of Edinburgh, UK; Norwegian University of Life Sciences, Norway) networks with evidence of published work.
