Leo is a medical doctor qualified with MB BS from University of Malawi College of Medicine. He holds a Masters in Internal Medicine from University of Edinburgh and completed a four year Clinical Oncology (Medical and radiation Oncology) specialization from the College of Medicine of South Africa (CMSA). He took a short fellowship in cancer prevention and molecular prevention with NCI (USA). He received training in cancer prevention and cancer registry training with WHO-IARC (Lyon). He won the IARC 50-50 future leaders award. His work involves lecturing at the College of Medicine in Malawi, patient care and is a clinical lead for Medicine Department at the Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital.
