Marie Chantal Uwimana


I am Marie Chantal UWIMANA a registered nurse- midwife and I am currently Lecturer in the College of Medicine and Health Sciences at the University of Rwanda. In addition to that I have been a Head of the Midwifery department in the School of Nursing and Midwifery. I am actively involved in developing and delivering modules to be taught to midwifery and nursing students. I completed the midwifery education in Rwanda in 2000 and after I went to pursue my honor’s degree in Nursing and master’s Degree in Nursing Management from the University of Kwa Zulu Natal in the Republic of South Africa in 2011. I have been teaching at the University of Rwanda since 2006 up to date. My previous professional experience includes clinical practice in maternity at the University Teaching hospital and in Health care centers. I have given oral presentations focusing on nursing and midwifery education and practice at regional and international conferences. My research interest focuses in maternal and child health area. I believe that well trained nurses and midwives are key health providers in improving maternal, newborn and child health. Currently I am a PHD student – CARTA fellow at Witwatersrand University -Johannesburg-RSA
