Biography

A Librarian/Lecturer at the University of Dar es Salaam library. Mohammed teaches courses on Information Literacy, Organization of Knowledge, and User Information Needs at the Department of Information Studies in the same University. He attained his first degree in BA Education in 2008 from the University of Dar es Salaam. In 2012 and 2018 respectively he attained a Masters Degree and a PhD in Information Studies respectively in the same university. His PhD project focused on the maternal health information needs and seeking behaviour of women of reproductive age in rural Tanzania. Mohammed’s research interest is on health information literacy skills of women of reproductive age in rural settings. He aspires to empower women of reproductive age in rural Tanzania with requisite health information literacy skills that will enable them to identify, locate, evaluate and use relevant reproductive health information in the bid to prevent deaths related to pregnancy and childbirth complications. His other research interest includes information and digital literacy and management of electronic information resources.
