Dr Ntirenganya is a consultant General & Onco-Plastic and Breast surgeon at University Teaching Hospital of Kigali and Associate Professor of Surgery and Head of Department of surgery at the School of Medicine and pharmacy, College of Medicine and Health sciences, University of Rwanda. He obtained his doctorate of Medicine at National University of Rwanda, where he did his General surgery residency and studied Breast, Oncoplastic and reconstructive surgery at University Paris IX, France. Furthermore, he did a Fellowship in Plastic Surgery at the College of Surgeons of East, Central and Southern Africa. Dr Ntirenganya intends to become a top leader in academia, a great researcher, a great surgeon and a top level breast cancer specialist. He has published papers in local, regional and international peer- reviewed journals, participated and presented papers to a good number of international conferences. He is the winner of the 2010 ASGBI Surgical Foundation Award and the 2013 Mammadi Soudavar Travelling Fellowship Award. He is engaged in global surgery and strives for universal access to quality health care, including giving access to high quality surgical services to the poor. He is interested in cancer research and is working on breast cancer molecular markers and their influence to clinical presentation, progression and outcomes in young African women. His other research interests include: -Global surgery – Breast cancer -Plastic and reconstructive surgery -Medical/Surgical education.
