Biography

Jean Paul a is a veterinary medical professional and academic with extensive experience in veterinary microbiology, antimicrobial resistance (AMR), and laboratory sciences. He is an Assistant Lecturer at the College of Veterinary Medicine and Animal Science, University of Rwanda, where he teaches microbiology, molecular biology, and laboratory diagnostics, contributes to curriculum development, mentors students, and serves as Laboratory Manager of the microbiology laboratory.

He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Veterinary Medicine and a Master’s degree in Tropical Animal Health. His research and academic interests focus on AMR, milk microbiome analysis, and laboratory-based detection of bacterial pathogens. He has developed standard operating procedures for bacteriological analysis, supports capacity building for veterinary laboratory personnel, and engages in public health research on zoonotic diseases, including brucellosis in goats. Through his teaching, research, and outreach, he is committed to strengthening laboratory systems, advancing AMR surveillance in Rwanda, and improving animal and public health outcomes in Sub-Saharan Africa.
