
Lydiah Wanjiru
Biography
Lydiah is a Tutorial Fellow at the University of Nairobi, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine. She is a virologist with a strong background in veterinary sciences, actively involved in teaching and research, focusing on the effects of climate change on zoonotic viruses and their impact on public health.
She holds a Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine and a Master of Science in Applied Microbiology from the University of Nairobi.
Her research interest is in exploring transmission dynamics, virus evolution, and host-pathogen interactions, with a special emphasis on how environmental and climatic factors influence disease emergence. Lydiah is also involved in antimicrobial resistance (AMR) research and its intersection with One Health, studying its drivers and the role of One Health interventions in mitigating its impact on both animal and human health.
