Biography

Martha is a Specialist Obstetrician and Gynaecologist and the Head of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the Kamuzu University of Health Sciences. She is a clinician and academic with extensive experience in clinical research, working across public and private health sectors in Malawi.

She holds a Master of Medicine in Obstetrics and Gynaecology, a Master’s in Medical Education. She has also earned a Postgraduate Diploma in Tropical Medicine and Hygiene (DTM&H), a specialist fellowship through the College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists of South Africa and the East, Central, and Southern Africa College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists, and a Certificate in Advanced Assisted Reproductive Technology and Reproductive Medicine.

Her research focuses on infertility and reproductive health in sub-Saharan Africa, examining the burden, determinants, and health system barriers to infertility care, and she has led and contributed to multiple large-scale research projects including NIH- and NIHR-funded studies.
