Biography

Mary is a Lecturer in the Department of Clinical Medicine and Therapeutics at the University of Nairobi, where she has taught for more than ten years. She is also an Honorary Consultant at the Kenyatta National Hospital, Kenya’s largest public referral hospital. 

Mary holds a Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery, and a Master of Medicine in Internal Medicine. She completed her fellowship in Clinical Nephrology at the East African Kidney Institute and serves as the Academic Representative on the Kenya Renal Association Executive. She also serves on various national renal technical working groups and has contributed to the writing of renal guidelines in the country. 

Mary is passionate about research that will improve outcomes among patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD) in Sub-Saharan Africa, including early detection and interventions to delay the progression of CKD, improving access to life-saving vaccines among CKD patients and the integration of artificial intelligence-based screening and treatment algorithms to improve the care of CKD patients.
