Stefanie Vermaak is a Senior Social Science Researcher for Bio-Behavioural HIV Research at the Perinatal HIV Research Unit (PHRU) in Soweto, South Africa. She holds a Research Joint Appointment at the Faculty of Health Sciences, University of the Witwatersrand. Stefanie has extensive experience in longitudinal, qualitative and mixed methods research designs. Her research interest focuses on HIV prevention strategies among young people and improving antiretroviral treatment adherence amongst young people living with perinatally and behaviourally HIV. Stefanie has been awarded multiple grants including the Wits Start-Up Funds for research active staff, SoMCHAT TB/HIV-Small Research Topics in TB and HIV and a research award through the Canada-Africa Prevention Trials Network (CAPTN).
